Freedom Rings - 5th Month and New Fabric

I finished the six small blocks last night.  They were pretty easy.

They are the remaining blocks of the 5th Month of Freedom Rings.

 

I ordered a new book that looked very interesting to me, "Angles with Ease."

I also ordered the ruler, the Triangular.  The book and ruler are products of Heather Muldar-Peterson.  I also ordered her line of fabric called Summer House.  They have beautiful color and are just amazing to look at.  I am hesitant to cut it up but I will in the next few weeks. 

I also pinned/basted three layers of the baby quilt from last week.  I will try to quilt it with something other than straight stitching.  I may be afraid so.....it will probably be stitch-in-the-ditch!

Freedom Rings - Months 4 and 5

I have finally caught up with my Block of the Month program, Freedom Rings by Red Crinoline Quilts (formerly known as Bonnie Blue Quilts). 

4th and 5th month blocks.

My husband, Dermet and I traveled to Phoenix to visit our 25 year old son, Tommy last weekend, Memorial Day.  We drove to Flagstaff and Sedona.  I wasn't able to visit any quilt shops but it was lovely. There was a craft fair across from the town hall and I purchased a couple of earrings for my daughters, Erin and Caroline and a wallet for myself.  There were quite a few crafters that were selling quilts.  It was fun to see the quilts and check-out the prices that they were asking.


Here are pictures of us eating in Flagstaff at Madrid Tapas & Spirits Restaurant.  It was very good.

 

Afterwards, just down the alley, we ate the most delicious gelato at Candy.

Catching Up....

Today, I caught up on the Block of the Month (BOM) that I purchased from Homestead Hearth.  Every month they send fabric and a pattern for me to create the block.  I have received four months of blocks and finally finished the third and fourth blocks today.  This quilt is called Civil War Melodies. 

At the end of the program, I will receive instructions to assemble the blocks.  I enjoy creating these blocks and eventually creating a large quilt.

Ladybug Twister

Just finished a couple of days ago, the quilt pictured below.  It is a Ladybug Twister quilt.  I just need to finish bending the antennae and using Fray-check to be sure that the rope does not fray.  This is a fun quilt and took a while to finish because of work at the local high school.  It was fun and very easy.

Finally making the baby quilt!

I am finally returning to my blog.  I apologize again for not writing as frequently as I would like to.  I work sporadically at the local high school and I have been busy with organizing the STAR testing materials.   

I have many quilting/piecing projects in my pile of work to be finished.  I have just finished piecing the quilt pictured below.  I used Jaybird Quilts Ballerina pattern by Julie Herman to make this baby pink quilt.  The pattern states that you should use a 12" Finished Size Creative Grids 60 degree Triangle Ruler.  I used the Hex N More Ruler by Julie to make this quilt.  Both rulers are 60 degree rulers so I just used an additional ruler with the Jaybird ruler to make the blocks larger.  It was very easy.  It probably took me 3-4 hours to assemble the quilt.

It is intended for a teacher at the school that I work at, Rio Americano High School.  Both she and her husband have taught all three of my children at one time or another so I decided to make a quilt for their daughter when she was pregnant.  Unfortunately, their daughter is now TWO YEARS OLD!  Ugh!
